Husqvarna 460 20-Inch Rancher Chain Saw 60cc 966048324
Very seldom will you see a list of highly recommended chainsaws without the name Husqvarna present, and ours is no exception. Their 20-inch/60cc chainsaw is one of the best we have ever reviewed. It’s well-built, sturdy, runs smooth, and has all the power you need to cut small trees down and saw off large limbs. It also makes cutting firewood very easy. It is the most expensive chainsaw on our list but we didn’t see any reason to think it was not worth the money.
The chainsaw (see full specs) runs a full 3.6 horsepower and that is some pretty serious cutting power for this size chainsaw. Other features that make it nice to use are the interior chain break which quickly stops the blade from turning and it also has low vibration technology built into the handle grips. It is a very comfortable and safe chainsaw to use. This model also features smart start technology and a side mounted chain tensioner for making easy adjustments.
It has several features we did not see on any other model chainsaw, which makes it likely the best 60cc chainsaw for the money.
Echo CS-590 20″ Timber Wolf Chainsaw
Not far behind the Husqvarna model we just reviewed comes this very nice model from Echo. It too comes with a very versatile 20 inch blade that is ideal for cutting down smaller trees and also getting rid of unwanted branches. It will make quick work of most firewood cutting jobs too.
There is definitely a lot to like about the Echo CS-590 (see full specs) and others who have used it felt much the same way (it enjoys very high ratings). It features a powerful 58cc engine that is very easy to start because of the decompression valve technology that is built into this model chainsaw. It is a very manageable and sturdy 20 pound machine and when handling it you can feel how well-built it is. It even has better than normal air filtration because it has a secondary air filtration system built into it also. Hands down, it’s one of the best 60cc chainsaws period.
Now, if you’re adamant about keeping your chainsaw at exactly 60cc, the two chainsaws above are your best bet. However, if you’d like something slighter smaller and less expensive but still fully capable of doing everything you’d need to be done, here are our recommendations:
Remington RM5520R Rodeo Pro 55cc 2-Cycle 20-Inch Gas Chainsaw
This chainsaw from Remington is extremely well built for one that is considered moderate to low priced. It has all the features you want on a chainsaw like front and back anti-vibration handles. It also has Remington’s very reliable electronic quick start technology and a pro grade crankcase and sprocket.
One of the best things about it is a chain oiler that is automatic and adjustable which will save you a lot of time that you normally would have spent manually oiling the chain. At 55cc, it has more than enough power to do such things as prepare your firewood or easily take down small trees. It also weighs just less than 25 pounds, which will make it easy to handle even during jobs that take a little longer.
It comes with a carrying case and a nice 2 year limited warranty too. This nice air-cooled model chainsaw is definitely a great buy.
XtremepowerUS 22″ 2.4HP Gasoline Gas Chainsaw Cutting Wood EPA
We round off our list with one of the more affordable models on the list. Notice we did not use the word “cheap” because this is a quality chainsaw for the price. It is a great purchase for those that are only occasional chainsaw users and don’t want to spend three times the money on a name-brand chainsaw.
The XtremepowerUS 22″ model has more than enough power to take down any small tree or work its way through thick branches. It comes with a nice 2 stroke 2.4 peak horsepower motor. It is a model that gets rid of its low exhaust smoothly so it does not build up heat easily. It is very sturdy yet not overly heavy at 16 pounds and it also has a nice anti-vibration design.
It’s a powerful and well-built chainsaw that has many of the same features as much more expensive ones, though in a smaller size (52cc). It is an EPA approved chainsaw because of its low emissions during use too.
Chainsaw Buying Tips
Here are some important tips on things to be to take notice of before making any chainsaw purchase:
* Foot Brace for Starting
It cannot be emphasized enough how important it is to always operate a chainsaw safely and you never want to start it by holding it in the air. Because of this you want a model that has a place to firmly put your foot so you can hold it securely against the ground when starting.
* Pay Attention to the Weight of the Chainsaw
Running a chainsaw can be a very strenuous physical activity. Your arms will not only vibrate while running them but you will also be holding the entire weight of the machine in the air for much of the time. For that very reason you want to stay away from buying a chainsaw that is over 25 pounds in weight, and maybe you’d want something even lighter. Who knows? Maybe the best 60cc chainsaw for you might be a 55cc or even 52cc one?
There certainly is a lot of chainsaws in the 60cc range out there to choose from. The ones on this list have been highly rated by not only us but by numerous others that have used them too. Multiple positive product endorsements are always a great way to ensure that you are buying a quality chainsaw product. We have no problem recommending any of the chainsaw models found on our list for purchase. Good luck!
