It comes in with 60% more light than the standard bulbs of its type. You can get both for only a minimal amount of expense as well, making it an ideal solution for the upgrade you’re looking for.

If you’re absolutely stuck on the idea of keeping your bulbs halogens, then this is exactly what you’re looking for but most people looking for maximum brightness will want to spend a bit more and go with an LED conversion kit.

JDM ASTAR G2 8000 Lumens Extremely Bright

For maximum brightness, it’s hard to beat out the JDM Astar G2 series. These replacement 9007 LEDs are easy-to-install and provide a stunning 4000 lumen per bulb for a combined total of 8000 lumen. You simply won’t be able to find a halogen which can compete at that level.

These ones are in a Xenon white color temperature, which highlights lines on the road at night as well. Make sure that you check out the electrical system on your vehicle if it’s European; some systems may require an anti-flicker harness or load resistor. Picking the Best 9007 Bulb Upgrades

Picking out a new bulb or even a conversion kit can seem complicated to those who’ve never had to do it before. If your main concern is getting a serious upgrade in brightness, however, things are simplified quite a bit for you.

The first thing you should do is decide on an upgraded halogen or a conversion kit. We strongly recommend the latter. In addition to being brighter per watt of energy than any other kind of light, LEDs offer advantages in both color temperature and in ease of handling.

Keep in mind when installing halogen bulbs that you need to wear gloves or cover the glass with a rag when you’re installing them. The oils in your skin on the outside of the bulb will cause the thin glass to crack due to the temperature these kinds of lights reach and you’ll end up having to buy another pair.

The advantages offered by LED kits, and the qualities to rate them, are as follows:


Lumen is the standard measure of light output from an LED conversion kit. The higher the lumens, the brighter the light. Older bulbs are still measured in wattage, but it’s an insufficient measurement once you get into LEDs due to the greatly improved efficiency of the bulbs themselves.

If you’re looking for only the brightest 9007 bulbs, then this is the primary thing to look for.


LEDs are measured in almost improbably long lifespans. In truth, the cooling systems are likely to break down before the lights themselves, which will kill an LED which is in a confined area fairly quickly. The bulbs themselves have lifespans measured in tens of thousands of hours.

This is why the investment into an LED conversion kit is nearly always worth it over going with halogen bulbs. They simply last way longer and you’ll end up saving quite a bit of money in the end.

Color Temperature

This advantage is a bit less obvious, and many will take some time to get used to the increased whiteness of the bulbs over their standard halogens. The higher color temperature of LEDs leads to a whiter light which is closer to actual daylight than most standard bulbs can achieve.

It takes some time to get used to, but the truer color recognition can be quite an advantage at night. Xenon white actually highlights other white objects, like the lines on the road, and makes it easier to see them than any standard bulb can possibly do it.


When it comes to finding the best 9007 bulb, your best bet is probably a LED conversion. These kits are brighter, last longer, and only marginally more expensive than old-fashioned bulbs and most modern kits are also of a simple plug-and-play configuration which makes them the logical upgrade to maximize the brightness of your headlights.   1. There is a safety factor in converting to LED’s that is never mentioned and is in fact ignored by the automakers. NTHSA is actually studying it now. Conventional bulbs generate heat and in winter conditions that is plenty to keep your headlamps clear. Blizzards are another matter of course, but that has always been a recognized safety factor but no one ever considered it in the regulator world because all cars had hot bulbs.

    LED’s generate no heat. It is a huge problem in winter conditions if your car is not equipped with headlight wipers. You can have 10,000 lumes of LED light and be stuck on the side of the road in a heavy snow. some Mercedes have wipers and that addresses it in large part, but in reality the only solution is to heat the lens. The Fed’s and the Europeans are looking at the best ways and it will probably have to be embedded defroster heaters in the plastic lens although I have been told that creates other distortion issues and accelerated degradation of the plastic. I worked for a company that made some of the plastic precursors and they were part of the research effort. I don’t know if it has been solved.

    I highly recommend you amend the piece above and include the issue. I live n Pennsylvania and a neighbor spent the money to convert to LED’s a few years ago and found he can not drive in snowy conditions. He modified the installation and he now switches to high power Halogens for December through March. Your headlights rank with tires and brakes for your safety. You should include the snow belt issues.

    • Ahh.. just to be straight.. LED bulb generate a ton of heat.. But they mostly dissipate that thru heat sinks outside the housing.. so still a problem.. but the heat is there.. actually big problem..
